Diagnostic Innovation

Guidance for the Future

Signature Genomic Laboratories specializes in microarray technology, and is the leading innovator in diagnostic microarray testing, providing the fastest, most thorough, and most objective chromosome analysis available. Health care providers should consider ordering microarray analysis for patients for whom they routinely order conventional karyotyping, subtelomeric FISH, and/or single-locus FISH. Signature’s proprietary arrays simultaneously assay the genome at selected loci (view disorders tested by the SignatureChipWG™ and SignatureChipOS™) with a higher resolution than that available from conventional cytogenetic testing, increasing the possibility of finding a structural chromosome abnormality, and giving medical geneticists, genetic counselors, and other medical professionals the data that they need to diagnose, clinically manage, and inform their patients.

History and Co-Founders

Signature Genomic Laboratories, LLC was established as a partnership between Signature Genomic Services, Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories and Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Signature Genomic Laboratories is the exclusive provider of the SignatureChipWG™, SignatureChipOS™, Signature MarkerChip™, and Signature PrenatalChip™ testing technology. Signature’s global headquarters is located in Spokane, Washington where it operates a state-of-the-art array-based comparative genomic hybridization (array CGH) diagnostic laboratory. Signature’s mission is to provide outstanding cytogenetic services using the latest diagnostic technologies.

The scientific directors and co-founders are Lisa G. Shaffer, Ph.D. (bio) and Bassem A. Bejjani, M.D. (bio). Drs. Shaffer and Bejjani are experts in clinical genetics, molecular genetics and cytogenetics. Together they have over 25 years of experience in clinical diagnostics and fully understand the potential of new technologies for transforming genetic diagnosis.

Signature Genomic Laboratories are CAP accredited # 7185391, CLIA certified # 50D1020924 and licensed as an LLC in the state of Washington. SGL is also licensed as an Out-of-State Clinical Laboratory in Florida, Rhode Island and California.

Signature Genomic Laboratories’ hours of operation are Monday through Saturday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm PST. For sample shipments, please contact Signature by telephone or email prior to submitting patient samples so that the shipment can be tracked. Signature accepts samples on Saturdays.
