Prenatal Testing Policies

Parental Samples

Parental samples are required when ordering a microarray on a prenatal sample. Parental samples are necessary to help clarify fetal microarray findings and must be on-site for analysis for rapid and comprehensive interpretation of results. Failure to submit parental samples may delay reporting of results and may impact full interpretation. For more information, please visit our Parental Testing page.

FISH Visualization

Abnormalities seen by microarray are FISH visualized for accuracy of interpretation. FISH visualization is possible for the majority of alterations identified by microarray. This analysis may impact turn-around time.

Testing and Sample Requirements

A completed Prenatal Requisition Form for the prenatal sample and one for each parent must accompany the samples. Please view the How to Submit a Prenatal Sample page for detailed instructions.

Please contact the laboratory at 509.474.6840 or 1.877.SigChip before sending a sample to discuss prenatal testing and sample requirements.
